Immaculately beautiful 500 E with the original stamped booklets, classic data and TUV reports and stacks of maintenance invoices. For sale by a collector and virtually as new. The E was delivered new in the rare colour “929 Nautikblau” metallic, which suits the car very well. Understated and classic. It's strange that this colour wasn't ordered more often. Definitely a top colour for this youngtimer. Largely in the original paintwork and hardly any signs of wear. Damage-free history and rust-free. An extensive Dinitrol treatment was carried out in 2015, photos are available. The original 8-hole alloy wheels are damage-free and fitted with excellent tyres. The original and 17 mm lowered chassis has rear level control.
The body is slightly wider than the standard W124, which meant it was not possible to produce the car on the assembly line. Porsche was therefore commissioned to build the 500 E by hand in Zuffenhausen. It took no less than 18 days to complete each 500 E because the body had to be transported to Sindelfingen to be spray-painted. The car then went back to Porsche for the engine to be fitted, finishing and testing. The advantage is that the exclusive 500 E is less susceptible to rust than the other W 124 models.
The interior is completely original and in absolute top condition. The sports seats are upholstered in beautiful fabric (078 grey) with leather side bolsters. The 500 E was partly built at Porsche, where inspiration was drawn from the iconic Pepita check upholstery. Timelessly beautiful and very suitable for sporty use. The seats are fully electrically adjustable and show hardly any signs of wear. The floor covering and the rear of the seats also look almost new. The dashboard features wood inlay and the classic Becker Mexico 2000 radio with motor antenna.
This 500 E comes from a private collector and has been excellently maintained. In addition to the usual servicing, the complete timing belt was replaced approximately 15,000 km ago, including all necessary gaskets, a new steering pump filter, alternator, battery, engine wiring harness, oil cooler hoses, etc. Maintenance invoices and even many photos are available.
